Spring to me club entry

What does Spring mean to me? Spring is the the end of winter, the beginning of summer and the time in between. It is something I look forward to. It is also a time that brings feelings of dread. It takes so long to come and then passes by so quickly I often wonder did it come at all. Spring marks the end of the winter. The end of cold and snow and wearing so much clothes its hard to walk. My boots are heavy. My coat is heavy. There's mittens and hats and scarves. When I go outside its cold and windy and snowing. There's icy roads and cars. It takes more effort to do everything. And I have to shovel! All this changes when spring comes.

Spring springs forth and suddenly my clothing is lighter and brighter in colour. Its more fun to get dressed. My gait is easier and brisker. At first the warmer weather and sunnier skies make me almost float as I walk along. The birds are back. Their song wakes me before I am ready to get up but I don't mind because it is nice to hear them again. There is so much joy in the new growth which seems to appear everywhere now. The world is once again becoming colourful.

As I enjoy the warmer weather, the lack of snow and slush, the new flowers and the buds on the trees I dread the summer ahead. The hot and humid weather of summer is heavy. It is harder to breath and walk. The lightness of spring gone. I know its coming; each springy day. But today, its spring. The birds are singing and the sun is warm on my face. I will enjoy today. I will enjoy spring.
